Bitcoin's response to the latest U.S. macro data release was unusually quiet. Earlier in this cycle, comparable prints triggered wide intraday swings. This time the move was small.
On-chain data from CoinMetrics showed reduced leveraged positions heading into the release. Lower leverage can dampen the immediate reaction to a print, because fewer positions are at risk of being forced out.
This points to a shift in how markets absorb macro news. Bitcoin has traded more like an asset with its own drivers and less like an instant macro proxy. The correlation to macro data may still exist, but its intensity varies from event to event.
What would make this reading false: a single quiet release does not prove a lasting change. If a future print of similar size produces a large Bitcoin move, the muted response would look like an exception rather than a new pattern.
