Sep 30, 2026 · MACRO

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis released Personal Income and Outlays for August 2026 on Sept. 30 (8:30 a.m. EDT). The PCE price index rose 3.4% from a year earlier. Excluding food and energy, the PCE price index rose 3.0% year over year. From July to August, the PCE price index increased 0.3% and the core index increased 0.2%.

Current-dollar personal income increased $66.6 billion (0.2% monthly) in August. Disposable personal income rose $68.6 billion (0.3%). Current-dollar personal consumption expenditures rose $190.8 billion (0.9%), with goods up $114.1 billion and services up $76.7 billion. Real PCE increased 0.6% monthly. Personal saving was $990.2 billion; the personal saving rate was 4.1% of DPI.

Secondary market reporting tied the print to a risk-asset move: a Dow Jones / MarketScreener update said Bitcoin traded about 2% higher near $85,354 in afternoon London trade and had topped $85,000 after the cooler year-over-year path versus July’s 3.7% headline pace cited in that coverage. Separate market commentary also referenced New York Fed President John Williams saying there was “no need for urgency” on future rate increases (Sept. 29 comments, as reported). Those secondary price and odds figures are not BEA data; BEA numbers above are the primary release.

Next BEA Personal Income and Outlays release: Oct. 29, 2026 (September 2026 data).
