Bitcoin falls after U.S. Senate fails to advance CLARITY Act

The U.S. Senate rejected a procedural motion to advance the CLARITY Act by a 49-50 vote. The legislation aimed to divide regulatory oversight of digital assets between the SEC and the CFTC. Bitcoin traded around $76,000 following the outcome. Liquidations in the cryptocurrency market exceeded $270 million over the previous 24 hours according to reports. The total crypto market capitalization declined 0.89% to $2.62 trillion. Ethereum, XRP, and Dogecoin posted losses as well.
