CLARITY Act stalls again — XRP takes the worst of the weekly losses

Aug 6, 2026 · REGULATION

The Senate will not vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act before its August recess, extending a wait that has now run through most of 2026. The bill would divide crypto oversight between the SEC and CFTC — the structural question the industry has pointed to as the main blocker for deeper institutional participation. Among the majors, XRP absorbed the sharpest weekly decline, down 5.5%, more than Bitcoin or Ethereum, consistent with XRP's outcome being more directly tied to how that oversight question resolves. The bill's supporters now point to September as the next realistic window, though the same language was used about August only a few weeks ago.
