How This Works

The simulator fetches Bitcoin's actual closing price for the date you select and the current live price, then computes how many coins your amount would have bought back then and what that quantity is worth now. Data goes back to 2013. This describes what already happened — it is not a projection of what will happen with a future purchase.

Why Entry Timing Matters Less Than People Assume

Bitcoin's price history includes both dramatic gains and multi-year drawdowns of 70%+. A common finding when people run this kind of simulation across many different dates is that most multi-year holding periods have historically recovered from even badly-timed entries — buying near a local top has usually mattered less than how long the position was held afterward. This is a historical pattern, not a promise; some entry points still show losses depending on the exact dates compared.

Try it yourself: Pick a date right before a known price peak (late 2017, late 2021) and compare the result to a date a year earlier or later. The spread between "good" and "bad" timing is usually smaller over 3-4 year windows than over 1-year windows.
